Histoplasmosis: Histoplasmosis is an infectious disease of the lungs caused by a fungus called Histoplasma capsulatum, commonly related to that of birds. The infection sometimes can spread to other parts of the body and the Histoplasma organism thrives in moderate temperatures and moist environments. This disease can multiply, leading to lung diseases as well as tuberculosis.
Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome: HPS is a serious respiratory disease carried by certain wild rodents and is passed to people through contact with a rodent's infected urine, droppings or saliva. Breathing in contaminated mist or dust is the most common form of the disease transmission.
